Chronology of cameras Minolta Samsung

Samsung Precision, later renamed Samsung Aerospace Industries and eventually merged into Korea Aerospace Industries in 1999, was founded in 1977.
In the early years, Samsung Precision manufactured a variety of products, including cameras1. In 1979, Samsung Precision successfully established a technological partnership with Minolta. Some of the initial cameras involved in this partnership were the Minolta Hi-Matic S and SD, as well as the Minolta XD5.
Similar to Samsung, in the 1980s, several Cheabols sought to establish technological partnerships, each with a different Japanese manufacturer of photographic equipment2. However, only Samsung was able to leverage this type of partnership to acquire sufficient expertise to independently design and produce a film single-lens reflex (SLR) camera with interchangeable lenses—the Kenox GX-1. Along the path to acquiring this expertise, Samsung also collaborated with Chinon, particularly in the development of the Kenox ZL-4 bridge camera3.

Although the chrome version is much more common, the Minolta Samsung X-300 is also available in a black finish. It is often accompanied by a 50mm 1:1.4 Samsung MD Korea lens.

The three-star logo on the camera body to the right of the lens is the one used by Samsung from 1980 to 1992.
